SYDRIVE-E hybrid drive
Hybrid-electric azimuth drive (400–2,600 kW) combining combustion engine and electric motor per propeller; retrofittable.
SYDRIVE-E is SCHOTTEL's hybrid-electric drive for azimuth propulsors. A combustion engine and an electric motor act on the same propeller, combined or in sequence, for efficient operation across varying loads. It covers 400–2,600 kW, has three flexible power input positions and can be retrofitted to existing azimuth units without drivetrain changes. The purely mechanical SYDRIVE-M links port and starboard units for single-engine light running, with up to 15% fuel savings reported.
