Volvo Penta's electric IPS pairs electric motors directly with IPS pod drivelines in twin, triple or quad installations. The company describes it as a plug-and-play electric propulsion solution that keeps IPS's forward-facing efficiency and manoeuvrability. The IPS900E (515 kW maximum) was first to launch in Q4 2025, followed by the IPS650E (374 kW). The plan is to electrify all five IPS drivelines, from 220 kW to 1.1 MW each and up to 4.5 MW in quad setups.
