Forward-facing twin-propeller pod drives integrated with engine, joystick and dynamic positioning.
Volvo Penta IPS combines a D-series diesel with a steerable pod drive that has forward-facing, counter-rotating twin propellers. The system is controlled through Electronic Vessel Control, with joystick docking, Assisted Docking and the Dynamic Positioning System. IPS models are numbered by approximate horsepower, from about 300 to 1,350 hp per unit, and are used on yachts and on professional craft via the IPS Professional platform.
