About

Astrol was founded in Switzerland in 1996 by Franz Forster, Jürg Ramsauer and Andy Stöckli as a designer of custom-built electronics. By 2006 it had moved into high-power semiconductor assemblies, and in 2011 it took over the power assembly business of ABB Semiconductors.

In 2014 the company relocated to Othmarsingen, Switzerland, where its products are designed, manufactured and tested at its production site and high voltage test laboratory. Since 2016 Astrol has been a member of Sun.king Technology Group, an international power electronics group listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

In 2019 the Astrol solid-state DC breaker received marine product type approval from DNV-GL. Industries served include maritime, smart grids, fusion and railway.
