Charge Offshore

Offshore vessel charging from wind farms.

Thornaby, Stockton on Tees, United Kingdom · Company

About

Charge Offshore was formed by a consortium of businesses to bring offshore power and charging to market. MJR Power & Automation designed the electrical infrastructure of the Aquarius systems, Blackfish the mechanical components and Elsys the control software, while Tidal Transit contributes its experience as an operator of electric crew transfer vessels. The logo carries the line By MJR Power & Automation.

The work started in 2018, when MJR created the first concept designs for an offshore charging system; a 250 kW system was built and factory tested in 2021 with support from Innovate UK. The technology has since been validated offshore on a live wind farm substation, and the first commercial unit rated at 2 MW was delivered to a client in December 2025.

The company is based at Willows Court on the Teesside Industrial Estate in Thornaby, Stockton on Tees, United Kingdom.
