About

Damen Marine Components traces its origins to Scheepswerf Van der Giessen, established in 1865. The business became Van der Giessen Straalbuizen in 1979, the year it joined the Damen Shipyards Group, and was renamed Damen Marine Components in 2005.

In 2018 Van der Velden Marine Systems merged with DMC, adding 55 years of rudder and steering gear expertise, and in 2020 Damen Anchors & Chains became part of the DMC holding. A new headquarters opened in Hardinxveld-Giessendam, the Netherlands, in 2019.

DMC operates as an independent part of Damen Shipyards Group. Production facilities in the Netherlands, in Gdansk, Poland (opened 1990) and in Jiangyin, China are ISO 9001-2015 and ISO 14001-2015 certified, supported by a global sales network and an engineering team at the Dutch headquarters.
