Duramax Marine

Duramax Marine is a manufacturer of water-lubricated propeller shaft bearings and related marine components, based in Hiram, Ohio, United States. It serves workboat, naval and recreational markets worldwide.

Its best-known brand is Johnson Cutless. The range includes naval brass sleeve bearings for shafts of 3/4 to 6-1/2 inches, non-metallic sleeve bearings with a thermoset shell and nitrile rubber liner, and flanged bearings for shafts of 2 to 15 inches. Duramax says no other water-lubricated bearing is used in more vessels worldwide than a Johnson Cutless.

The DuraBlue line of advanced bearings uses a synthetic reinforced composite with solid lubricants. It is available as stern tube bearings, which ABS has type-approved for length-to-diameter ratios as low as 2:1, and as greaseless rudder bushings with outside diameters of 1 to 42 inches. Duramax promotes these seawater-lubricated designs as pollution-free alternatives to oil-lubricated stern tubes.

Engine cooling: Makes one-piece and stacked 90/10 CuNi keel coolers (DuraCooler, SuprStak), demountable keel coolers and coated box coolers alongside its main shafting business.
