Composite water-lubricated stern tube bearings with solid lubricants; ABS type-approved for L/d ratios down to 2:1.
DuraBlue is a synthetic reinforced composite with a thermoset matrix, synthetic fibres and solid lubricants, developed for seawater-lubricated propulsion shafts. Duramax quotes a very low wet friction coefficient and resistance to corrosion, hydrolysis and swelling. It notes ABS type approval for L/d ratios as low as 2:1. DuraBlue is supplied as unfinished tubes or machined bearings in any size, and also as greaseless rudder bushings (1 to 42 in OD), thrust washers and wear pads.
