About

Somers Forge is based in Halesowen, West Midlands, UK, and also lists an office in Westland, Michigan, USA. The company presents itself as a forging company since 1866 and traces its family heritage back to 1697 and the Lye Forge of Joseph Folkes, describing itself as the 10th oldest family run firm in the UK.

It has supplied the marine industry for more than a century: in 1912 it obtained Admiralty Approval for propulsion shafting and other marine forgings, and in 1910 and 1911 it forged anchor parts for the Olympic class liners, including an anchor shank for RMS Titanic.

Besides marine and defence, the forge serves aerospace, power generation, nuclear and general engineering customers, with a light forge and a heavy forge.
