About Kongsberg Maritime
Kongsberg Maritime is a Norwegian supplier of ship propulsion, power, automation and navigation systems, headquartered in Kongsberg. According to the input data, it was demerged from Kongsberg Gruppen and listed separately on Oslo Børs as Kongsberg Maritime ASA in April 2026. The company reports about 8,000 employees, operations in 20 countries and technology on more than 15,000 vessels.
Its propulsion portfolio grew with the 2019 purchase of Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine. Products include Kamewa controllable- and fixed-pitch propellers (up to about 75 MW), Promas integrated propeller-rudder systems, US, Azipull and Arctic azimuth thrusters, Elegance electric pods, retractable thrusters, tunnel thrusters, permanent-magnet rim-drive thrusters, and Kamewa aluminium and steel waterjets. On the electrical side it supplies SAVe hybrid power systems, energy storage, drives and power management. For control it offers AutoChief propulsion control, K-Chief automation and K-Pos dynamic positioning.
In 2024 Kongsberg sold its steering gear and rudder business (Tenfjord, Frydenbø) to Norvestor, which now runs it as Neuver Maritime. In 2026 it agreed to acquire Berg Propulsion (July) and Steerprop (September), both subject to approvals.
