Kongsberg's direct electric drive family puts the electric motor inside the propulsor. It includes permanent-magnet rim-drive azimuth and tunnel thrusters (about 500–2,700 kW), Elegance pulling and pushing pods (2.0–7.5 MW), and the Azipull L-drive with a vertical-shaft PM motor integrated in the steering gear. These units are used on hybrid and fully electric ferries, offshore and research vessels.
