Autonav

Autonav is the trading name of Autopos Marine Inc., based in Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada. Its electro-hydraulic steering systems build on more than ninety years of Wagner family experience in marine steering.

Design work is supervised by Paul Wagner, who studied mechanical engineering at the University of British Columbia and learned steering system design and production in the workshop of his father. Over the years the range grew from autopilots to systems such as Dynamic Positioning and Rudder Roll Stabilization.

Beyond ships, Autonav has commissioned the first of 18 tidal energy systems for Big Moon Canada, each using two 850 kNm steering systems to operate accelerator plates that control the flow of tidal current into the generator.
