Surrey, BC · Company

About

Kobelt traces its origins to a garage in Vancouver, Canada, where Jack Kobelt began designing and manufacturing mechanical and pneumatic controls for marine vessels in 1962. Push-pull controls and shaft brakes followed in the 1970s, hydraulic steering systems in the 1980s and the first electronic controls in the 1990s.

Sales, support and manufacturing are based at the factory of Kobelt Manufacturing Co. Ltd. in Surrey, British Columbia, next to Vancouver. The 80,000 square foot facility is ISO 9001:2015 certified and vertically integrated, with an in-house foundry, bronze die casting, precision machining, assembly and testing.

Products are sold and supported through a network of certified distributors and dealers in over 60 countries, and the company works with classification societies for system approvals.
