About

Lagersmit is based in Alblasserdam in the Netherlands and traces its roots to 1856, when Machinefabriek Diepeveen, Lels en Smit was founded in Kinderdijk. The copper and iron foundry of the L. Smit & Zoon shipyard became the direct predecessor of Lagersmit, which was founded in 1956.

Bronze and white metal bearings were the early specialty, and from the 1960s the focus shifted to seals. The first seal, Sublime, was introduced in 1964, followed by the Supreme shaft seals in 1981 and the Liquidyne pump seals in 1983. The company states that it has supplied more than 50,000 seals.

Today the company presents itself as Lagersmit by Timken. Production takes place in Alblasserdam, supported by a worldwide network of offices, agents and service stations with 24/7 support.
