Rim Drive azimuth thruster
Permanent-magnet rim-drive azimuth thrusters of 500–2,600 kW with 1.9–2.6 m propellers and up to 440 kN thrust.
The Rim Drive azimuth thruster (RD-AZ) integrates a permanent-magnet motor in the duct around the propeller, removing the gear and shaft of a conventional azimuth. Three sizes are offered: RD-AZ-1900 (500–1,100 kW, 191 kN), RD-AZ-2300 (1,100–2,000 kW, 344 kN) and RD-AZ-2600 (1,100–2,600 kW, 440 kN). Typical uses are ferries and offshore vessels.
