About

PRM Newage Ltd is based at Barlow Road, Coventry, England, where design, manufacturing and an onsite applications testing facility with dynamometer cells are located. The company has developed and supplied PRM marine gearboxes for more than 45 years.

Its roots go back to 1903, when the Riley Engine Company was set up in Coventry to make engines and transmissions. The gearbox plant was renamed PR Motors Ltd in 1938, was sold to Newage Engineers in 1966 as its transmissions division and moved to the Barlow Road factory in 1974. It became Newage Transmissions Ltd in 1980 and Newage Transmissions PLC in 1986 after a management buy-out.

The PRM marine gearbox range was redeveloped in 1988. CommaTECH bought the company in 2006, a corporate buyout in 2008 created PRM Marine, and in 2014 the name changed to PRM Newage to reflect the two product brands.
