Azipod ICE / VI
Ice-strengthened Azipod units for icebreakers, Arctic LNG carriers and other ice-going vessels.
The ice-class Azipod variants (ICE and VI) are strengthened for operation in ice. They are used on icebreakers, Arctic LNG carriers and other vessels operating in polar conditions. The steerable pod lets ships operate stern-first in heavy ice and apply thrust in any direction, which is why the design has become common on ice-going ships.
