Onboard DC Grid
Shipboard power system that combines AC components with DC distribution to integrate gensets, batteries and propulsion drives.
Onboard DC Grid is ABB's DC-based power distribution system for ships. ABB describes it as combining the advantages of AC components with smart DC distribution. The system connects variable-speed gensets, energy storage and propulsion drives on a common DC bus, and it is used on hybrid and battery-electric vessels to optimise power generation and consumption.
