Oceanvolt was founded in 2004 by the Finnish entrepreneur Janne Kjellman, a lifelong sailor and electric vehicle enthusiast who wanted a cleaner and quieter alternative to diesel engines on boats. The company has worked on electric propulsion for sailing for more than 20 years.
Oceanvolt is based at Ruosilantie 7 in Helsinki, Finland. Its management team consists of Alec von Weissenberg as CEO, Teresa Tarkkanen as CFO and Gustavo Vieira as CTO, with Riku Niemelä as chairman of the board.
