It is time to convert

LiqTech is offering the key component for open-loop to closed-loop/hybrid scrubber conversion.

Description

It is time to convert

The key component for open-loop to closed-loop/hybrid scrubber conversion.

There is massive untapped potential to reduce shipping emissions and pollutants cost-effectively. By implementing a closed-loop scrubber - or by converting your open-loop scrubber to a closed-loop, e.g., with a LiqTech membrane solution - you can operate cost-efficiently and sustainably while staying compliant with all current and future environmental regulations.

The marine industry is responsible for generating harmful emissions and pollutants such as sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon oxides (CO2), particulate matter (PM), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), and heavy metals. These elements harm air quality, the environment, and human health. If no immediate actions are taken, the emissions from the marine industry are forecasted to rise by 50-250 % before 2050, undermining the objectives of the SDGs and the Paris Agreement.

Several local and global regulations are implemented to achieve a more sustainable shipping industry. Many countries worldwide have banned open-loop scrubbers to prevent the discharge of sulfuric wash-water, which causes ocean acidification, harming shellfish and corals. Moreover, the European Union’s Environmental Committee has recommended that Europe out-phase open-loop scrubbers and ban open-loop scrubber wash water discharge. Likewise, it is expected for the IMO to follow through with a global restriction.

It is time to convert to closed-loop mode.

Many countries around the world are already banning the use of open-loop scrubbers in specific ports or territorial waters, including China, the United States, Singapore, France, Portugal, India, Spain, Egypt, Germany, Panama, Malaysia, Pakistan, UAE, Bahrain, Gibraltar, Belgium, Ireland, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Lithuania, Bermuda and many more to come.

  • Widening fuel spread The fuel spread between VLSFO and IFO380 is widening = There is a business case.
  • Global Port Ban for Open-Loop Scrubbers +120 ports worldwide have banned open-loop discharge
  • Global Restrictions IMO, the EU and others are tightening regulations for open-loop discharge.
  • Environmental Awareness Operate cost-efficiently and sustainably while staying compliant.

Be future compliant with a LiqTech marine scrubber water treatment system.

We are here to remove unburned fuel oil, soot particles, ash, and heavy metals from water and take an active role in reducing world pollution. We care about the future, and at the same time, about growth. We see it as our mission to enable companies to grow stronger while meeting tomorrow's environmental demands. That means the world to us.

LiqTech has developed a compact and efficient water scrubber treatment system for both closed-loop and hybrid scrubbers that outperforms discharge limits regulated by the IMO. Working with market leaders for several years, we have successfully installed retrofit and new-build scrubber water treatment systems on hundreds of vessels.

  • 250+ systems installed worldwide
  • Guaranteed compliance with IMO discharge regulations
  • Consistent quality of treated water
  • Unmatched operating experience and process know-how
  • Modular system design for flexible installation
  • Future proof investment with post-treatment options
  • Reduced scrubber sludge volume and handling cost

We will be more than happy to speak with you.
