VEM Group

VEM traces its history in electric motor manufacturing back to 1886 and has developed from a classic motor maker into a system supplier of complete electrical drive equipment. The company is based at Pirnaer Landstraße 176 in Dresden; the imprint also names VEM Sachsenwerk GmbH in Dresden and VEM motors GmbH in Wernigerode, and the history page mentions a motor plant in Zwickau.

In 2017 VEM GmbH was integrated into VEM Holding Ltd. The site states that all three German locations were retained and that the new owner continues the Made in Germany brand. A 6 MW large machine test facility was commissioned in 2011.

For shipbuilding the company offers marine certification for most IACS members and serves ship types including research ships, supply vessels, ferries, cruise liners, mega yachts, container ships, tankers, naval vessels, tugs and ice breakers.
